Review of In the Heart of the Sea (2015) by Arthur R — 19 May 2016
A textbook case of hollywood adding drama to a true story when no additions were necessary. The harrowing ordeal experienced by these sailors would have been enough without turning the whale into a supersized version of Jaws. That said, its still a worthwhile film and while Ron Howard doesnt tap into the full spectrum of emotions, its still beautifully filmed and powerful. Just enough heart in this one for a passing grade.
Resonant Line: "Herman Melville: Something else you've given me tonight.
Old Thomas Nickerson: And what's that?
Herman Melville: The courage to go where one does not want to go.".
