Review of In the Hands of the Gods (2007) by Raynormanbateman . — 23 Apr 2010
A very well done documentary on how not to give up on your dreams no matter how silly they are. I am not saying wanting to meet Diego Maradona is silly by any long shot because I would have done the exact same as these lads if I was braver and not too concerned about having a full time job and a 'normal' life. Watching a documentary like this does inspire people, it inspires me but it also teases me because I know I will never be that adventurous and step out of my comfort zone but this is why films like this should always be made... to show us of the possibilities one could achieve if they just push themselves to do it.
We don't see a lot of freestyle football, which is a shame but the story is touching and has a great conclusion. Shame Maradona didn't make as much of an effort to spend time with them but I suppose he is a very busy man with many many fans who would love to meet him and would do as much if more to do so.
