Review of In the Electric Mist (2009) by Shannon F — 24 May 2009
Tommy Lee Jones sitting around talking to Confederate ghosts is some rich and righteous imagery, but unfortunately poorly executed. The director even managed to make Jones look like a small, inferior actor.
I'm not sure about the book, but the screenplay is painful with a discombulated slew of subplots dropping out of the sky. Also, positively the worst non-actor performances I've ever seen. Never has the distinction been so clear between those that are actors and those that are Louisiana locals thrown in for authenticity.
Buddy Guy, God bless him, can't act for shit. However, Tommy Lee beats up a few people, and his ponderous dialogues with deceased General John Bell Hood are quite stupendous.
