Review of In the Electric Mist (2009) by Marcus B — 20 May 2012
There is a lot in this movie that should make me really like it - deep South environment, low-key story arc, corrupt cops and larger than life crooks. It even has Tommy Lee Jones, who more often than not delivers the goods.
Damn, it is even based on a novel by James Lee Burke and I really loved movie version of his "Heaven's Prisoners". So how come this movie never manages to take off? Well, for a very simple reason - that low-key plot I mentioned.
.. well, as it turns out, it wasn't low-key, it was flat-lined. It moves through the motions and ultimately leads to very anti-climactic finale. And that, my dear folks, will kill any movie.
