(2003) In The Cut.
MYSTERY/ THRILLER/ EROTIC DRAMA/ HORROR.
Although, based from a novel written by Susanna Moore theirs remnants of other serial killer movies that involve grisly killlings, especially "Se7en" in particular! No real plot device, but the serial killings only serves as a backdrop for the unprofessional and unlikely erotic love affairs between a cop (Mark Ruffalo) and a single school teacher (Meg Ryan, and she is naked in this one) whose supposed to be one of few important witnesses to solve this case, except that out of all the grotesque killings happening in the city of New York City, she seems to be the only credible witness that can help the officers assigned to the case, which as a realists standpoint is unlikely! Directed by Jane Campion (An Angel At My Table & The Piano) the best description to describe the overall feel is very bleak and shallow, one would need to read the book that it was based on and that is something I'll won't do!
2 out of 4.
