Review of In the Bedroom (2001) by Will J — 19 Apr 2008
Not only is this by far the best film of the past 10 years, this is one of the best directorial debuts I have ever seen and one of the most heartbreaking films I have ever witnessed. Field takes the brilliant short story "The Killings" by Andre Dubus and drenches it in realism and compassion in ways that many veteran filmmakers wish they could.
Every performance rings home on this picture, and all the characters feel like people you have known forever. A must see!
