Review of In My Skin (2002) by Michael H — 22 Jun 2007
I watched this film, not having a complete picture in my head of what it was going to be about... which in my opinion is when you discover some of your favourite films... oh my god did I love this... possibly due to my love of psychosexual behaviour...
I'm not gonna write a proper review, but say that this was one of the most emotive films that I have seen in my entire life... and in some ways, slightly erotic... The depection of a woman's self discovery of an act (in this case self mutilation and harm) that takes her mentally to a completely different dimension, eclipsing everything else in her life, from her job to her husband, was so unbelievably hypnotising I felt emotionally drained at the end of it...
I don't think I've ever said that about any film in my life, but everything from the direction to the acting to the strangely arousing lead actress to the ethereal atmosphere which sent me into an almost transcendental state for the whole film left me astounded...
I highly recommend this film to anyone...
