Review of In Her Shoes (2005) by Maymay A — 28 Jan 2010
"It is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart. I carry your heart. I carry it in my heart. ".
This is one of those films I'm not that excited to see. I thought that it's just another typical American film I would easily forget right after seeing it. But, I was wrong. Thanks to a friend who insisted that I must see this film. The story of two sisters whose personalities drift so far apart, and the amazing people in the background, is really good. This is something so sentimental and beautiful. It would surely leave a bunch of good life lessons in your head and appreciation in your heart.
For Rose, the straight, responsible, smart, always busy and successful lawyer, it's about being responsible for protecting and living with someone who makes your life a living hell, which is no other than her younger sister. As for Maggie, it's just about always depending on your family and other people for everything financial and material, and just living the life of guys, sex, parties and cocktails. Nevertheless, they realized that amidst those differences and conflicts, they can never be fully happy without each other.
The things they thought that separate them apart were actually the reason why they can't avoid to be in each other's lives. They complete each other. And that'll never change.
