Review of In Good Company (2004) by Caleb M — 28 Jun 2008
A very touching and realistic drama with two wonderful performances from Quaid and Grace. This is a film that gets nearly everything right about real life. The awkward moments, embarassing situations, relationships, and dialog all feel just right.
The film's only flaw is the slightyl sitcom-y "Teddy K" character and his cheesy business strategies, although I'm sure a lot of that wasn't totally made-up. I think a reasonthis film isn't as well-known as it should be is that the people who do watch it expect some obvious slapstick comedy, and those who would enjoy it pass it off as yet another trite, cliche comedy, when really this is an excellent film that manages to entertain while containing some very heartfelt and meaningful messages about age, growing up, learning, and finding meaning in life.
