Review of In Cold Blood (1967) by Kevin R — 17 Dec 2015
This is their last day on Earth.
Two drifters desperate for money break into a family's home and kill them in the process. They get away with the murder and head west, selling everything they have to get where they want to go. Once there, they break out the heavy artillery and go on a murderous rampage looking for loot.
"Nuns are bad luck.".
"Kind of sexy though.".
Richard Brooks, director of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Happy Ending, Elmer Gantry, The Catered Affair, The Last Hunt, The Professionals, and Battle Circus, delivers In Cold Blood. The storyline for this picture is very well told with intense scenes and characters and wonderful thrilling sequences. The acting is first rate and the cast includes Robert Blake, Scott Wilson, John Forsythe, Paul Stewart, Jeff Corey, and Will Geer.
"Murder is no mystery, only the motive.".
I came across this on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and had to DVR it. This was clever and very well executed. There was definitely a perfect gritty and compelling feel throughout the movie and the characters were very intense and well delivered. This is an underrated classic that is definitely worth a viewing.
"Your neck breaks. You crap your pants.".
