Review of In a World... (2013) by Alison C — 07 Oct 2013
Lake Bell's debut as a director is credible as she creates a cute story with some charm, highlighting at its core, the inescapable pull of both family bonds and expectations. Unfortunately, the mostly fluffy way the plot weaves throughout doesn't allow Bell to put much weight on the more bolder themes she attempts to tackle (glass ceilings, Hollywood's rather "incestuous" nature in maintaining continuity the industry).
