Review of In a Lonely Place (1950) by Masorad ( — 20 Apr 2009
Thanks to Bogart's production company and Ray's darker-than-dark noir proclivities, we have this still-relevant and highly watchable reel that strikes a foul & alienated mood from the start and never lets up.
Bogart was never better, an anti-hero (edges softened in the 50s, sure) who mind-fucks and self-destructs behind an iconic face. A bitter, jaded film (released the same year as Sunset Blvd) that'll sober you up.
