Review of In a Lonely Place (1950) by Adrian B — 07 Nov 2010
Astoundingly dark deconstruction of the masculine noir archetype. Bogey lurches about like Frankenstein's monster, dually lovably lonely and horrifically brutal. Gloria Grahame is wonderfully conflicted as the woman who loves and is scared by him.
Despite its age, In a Lonely Place remains a potent and disturbing exploration of an abusive relationship.
