Review of In a Better World (2010) by Tim M — 26 Sep 2011
Such an emotionally varied film. While dealing with bullies and friendship it delves into how to respond to people whether in hate or love, revenge or forgiveness, as friends or enemies. The child stars are perfect as their characters and are the real heart of the film with the adult performers supporting them.
The children must deal with some tough issues including death, divorce, anger, and bullies. Ultimately it is the parents who must be there for their children and the story that transpires is shown both realistically and beautifully through masterful direction and camera-work.
It won best foreign language film at the 2010 Oscars but wasn't even released in theaters in the U.S. till 2011 so I'm glad I finally got to see it and have to admit it is a worthy winner.
