Review of Imitation of Life (1959) by Codie E — 02 Oct 2009
An brilliant first half; daring, frank and extremely engaging gaves way to a second half (when the kids have grown up) that just felt a little too detatched and forced. Another example of Sirk's beautiful eye, achieved through Russell Metty's incendiary photography, and his controlled handle on melodrama.
