Review of IMAX Hubble (2010) by Ripplefactor J — 11 Aug 2010
I'll just copy paste a thank you note that I sent to LG IMAX Sydney:
I was the first one in the line at Gate 1 and that just shows how excited I was to be a part of this screening. Just about 20 minutes before the screening I saw John being escorted to the hall and I thought to myself how lucky I was to have been standing right next to a man who has been in space!
It was overwhelming and I haven't yet recovered from my unexplainable exuberance. I had read about Hubble mission when I was in school and thought it might be just like the other missions that NASA has had in the past. Last night's screening changed everything. It was an honour to have him at the venue and speak about his experience and about the unknown cosmos. Leonardo?s narration was brilliant and the space travel scenes were so real that at times you could feel that gravity ceased to exist inside that hall. It was all very well organised and I must thank Julie and team IMAX for putting up this unforgettable event.
As I was walking back I realised how we humans fight in the name of religion, power and money and to think that somewhere in the cosmos, trillions of light years away, a new star is being formed and another one dying. Some galaxy was creating way for a light source that might lead to a new life form and here we are, unaware of all that is happening out there, carrying on with wars over parts of a planet that we think we created and control. Micro-organisms, that is what we are compared to the never ending space.
I wish IMAX all the best with the screening that is starting today for public and I will return once again for Hubble 3D, with my partner this time.
Thank you & best of luck!
