Review of Imaginaerum (2012) by Intuciic . — 09 Jul 2013
Let's get the bad out of the way first. The acting is terrible. It lacks emotion for the most part and screams 'low budget actors' at every turn. Also, the movie is (to me) clearly meant as art, not as a cinema movie for the general audience. So a lot of people will be turned down by it.
On to the good. This was almost exactly what I expected of a Nightwish movie. A fantasy/gothic style, making me think of a gothic version of alice in wonderland. The music fit perfectly with every single song, even if I didn't like all of the songs. (I dislike Slow love slow for one) The CGI was properly done as well. It wasn't that glaringly obvious that it was computer generated, though you could of course notice here and there. It seems like most of the budget has gone into this and the sets they created.
For anyone that likes artsy films, or is a fan of nightwish this is definitely a must see. For other people, this might not be a movie for you, but I'd still give it a try if you can rent it on DVD.
