Review of I'm Still Here (2010) by Charlo P — 29 Dec 2010
The biggest mistake that Casey Affleck and Joaquin Phoenix made was insisting that it was all real, even after the film was made and released. Watching it now, knowing that it was an art piece, I can really appreciate Phoenix's amazing performance, which is easily the best thing about the movie, and should have been its biggest draw.
By claiming that it wasn't an acting performance, they took away the one thing that brings the movie its merit. It actually works as a comedic-mockumentary (I laughed quite a bit), so I'm not sure why they insisted on letting the audience believe that it was a tragic documentary when it was first released.
