Review of I'm Still Here (2010) by Tiia S — 13 Nov 2010
This is an amazing film. My.
Take is certainly different from many of the reviewers---in fact, I would say it is.
Diametrically opposite. See this movie, but only see it if you can.
Withhold judgment and go with an open mind.
...Hoax, schmoax, who.
Cares? The chew 'em up, spit 'em out celebrity mentality so prevalent.
Today and the bottom line box office draw versus true craft should give.
Viewers (parasitic studios?) something to think about in our modern day.
Culture.
It's quite easy to see how these young "stars" get surrounded.
By "yes men" who don't necessarily look out for the best interests of.
Their meal ticket.
The mountaintop speech Edward James Olmos gives to Joaquin.
Is delivered with wisdom and poignancy, and it certainly sums up the up.
And down cycle of (life)"movie stars.".
Listen to the song lyrics instead of the goofy hip-hop imitation. "You don't know me, And I'll never be what you want me to be...".
Affleck and Phoenix have turned the cameras on the audience.
And the picture isn't always a palatable one. The heart-breaking.
Ending brought me to tears and is surely an Oscar nod in the making.
