Review of I'm Not There (2007) by Ina S — 23 Apr 2010
A very weird film, and I won't pretend I got every aspect of it, especially being completely unfamiliar with Bob Dylan's life. But also a very beautiful, compelling film with fantastic, complex achievements by both the director and the many talented actors. Every actor in this movie is truly amazing, but Cate Blanchett, as so often, outshines them all. Her performance adds an extra half star to the rating of this film - its delicate, powerful, emotional, subtle and very hard to forget. All the other actors are perfectly chosen to portray the different aspects of Dylan's life also.
Do not watch if you are one for easy, mainstream fare. But do watch if you like a movie that needs a bit of analysis to be fully enjoyed.
