Review of I'm Not Scared (2003) by Dean M — 11 Jun 2009
...a really absorbing thriller from italy, also know under the name "I'm not scared" or "Ich habe keine Angst"...it tells the story of the 9 yr old Michele, who discovers a shocking secret in the village where he lives...he finds something scaring in a hole at the wheatfields, in the vicinity of his home and unviels a conspiracy where every adult in the village is involved...
The acting of Giuseppe Cristiano and Mattia Di Pierro is stunning, they play their roles so well and the scenery is also well chosen, the wide wheat fields, the small houses, the landscape and the little details at every place...the movie shows a world of beautiful colours outside the hole and that is a great contrast to the colourless darkness of the hole itself...
I also love the score of the movie, it accentuates the scenes very appropriate and creates a perfect atmosphere throughout the film...
I watched the italian original movie (without subtitels) which was difficult at the beginning, but the whole story unfolds so well developed, that everything was understandable and I was catched from the first picture I saw...highly recommended!
