Review of I'm Not Ashamed (2016) by Norm D — 27 Jan 2018
As a Believer, neither "christian films" nor the studios "Faith-based" divisions have been all that impressive. The productions are predictable, clichéd, saccharine, and just not that good. Two exceptions rise: (1) This film and (2) SONY's "Risen." The Lead turns in a terrific & believable performance as the real person she portrayed going through the angst of the teen years. And the kids grappling with their parents' divorces: So many.
In one of the dénouement scenes near the end ... of the car in the lot. Poignant. Haunting.
So, here presented is the uplift to be found in 6:00 o'clock News true horror - as true as any in the retelling in a cinema - of a disgraceful American tragedy that remains troubling looking back ... & going forward.
