Review of I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (2006) by Augusto P — 08 Jan 2008
Just watched this, but I'm still not sure of what to think about this movie. By the way I'm not a dissapointed Chan-Wook Park fan, I'm just trying to judge the movie on its own terms.
Visually it's a winner for sure, with great camera work and colors, and effects that are never overwhelming; but plot-wise it just... lacks something. It IS a neat idea, but it does seem like a good two-sentences concept that was stretched for almost two hours, and the holes simply filled with quirky situations and characters. And by the time you have connected with the characters, and the plot seems more coherent and sure of its own direction, and the whole thing finally strikes some real emotional chords... the movie just ends! I'm trying to make more sense about the abrupt ending, but for now it's only a 3-star movie to me.
