Review of I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (2006) by Kieran T — 18 Jun 2009
Park Chan Wook has been getting progressively worse as a director in my opinion. Did I just cuss out Oldboy? you bet I did, from 'JSA' to 'Mr Veng' to 'Oldboy' to 'Lady Veng' to 'Im a Cyborg' he has produced less and less quality every time. His collaboration with Seo-Gyeong Jeong on Lady Veng and this has brought a quirky side to his work which doesnt really fit that well.
Rain is pretty good, Su-jeong did better work in Romantic President and even A Tale of Two Sisters. im being very generous with this rating in truth as most of it bored me and the other minor characters brought nothing to the equation, but there are a couple of good scenes. Wook needs to go back to his tight script days of JSA and Mr Veng, he is becoming too random, quirky and visually obsessed that his work is suffering.
