Review of I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (2006) by Lho B — 18 May 2010
I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK - not only is that a really intriguing title, but it also summarises the entire film in such a perfect way.
When a young woman, who has stopped eating, is admitted to a mental hospital, everyone believes she's trying to kill herself through starvation. She, however, has a secret - she's in fact a cyborg, and with a mission. She meets another patient who believes he can steal peoples feelings - and they develop a loving relationsship, as he attempts to help her eat, only without convincing her that she's a real human.
I don't remember the last time I was this endeared by a movie - let alone a lovestory.
But the quirkiness of this is so interesting, and features nice action-scenes, humour, and emotional drama - and all in a perfect blend. There was never a really dull moment, the storyline is subtle and sweet. Like "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", only as though written by someone on light drugs, and executed by other lovely potheads.
