Review of Ill Manors (2012) by Celia L — 17 Jun 2012
A MUST SEE! Very strong story, great acting, solid direction and great soundtrack. Not a light hearted happy go lucky film, but a hard realistic take on a group of unprivileged people trying to survive in a difficult urban environment.
This reminds me of Boyz n the Hood, a la mode UK. There are some very innovative ideas, like a couple of rap songs illustrated with some striking scenes. Addressing heavy social issues like drug, prostitution, violence, etc, the film still cares about its characters, not condemning them but explaining their behaviour.
The new Mike Leigh?
