Review of Il Divo (2008) by Ioannis S — 01 Sep 2009
A true story of a semmingly dull man who's name became notorious in Italian politics.
The trick is here that a man such as Andreotti could gain high office when he seemed to have so little going for him, yet Toni Serrvillo is top drawer as Andreotti , a man drawn into a world of bribery, corruption and Mafia murder.
The film itself feels like an american political thriller from the 70's and the slow burn of the story keeps you hooked right to the end.
A film that faces down political corruption and makes you wonder what italian politics is like even now.
