Review of Ikiru (1952) by Chris W — 26 Mar 2008
A beautiful and poetic examination of death and life...and a condmenation of those who live their lives as if dead. This isn't simply the story of a man who learns he's going to die...it's the story of a man who has never lived, never accomplished anything and never attacked life with anything resembling passion.
It's about taking time to examine our lives, looking deep within ourselves and seeing if we have truly made each moment count. What will our legacy be? Will we have one? Can we die happily? A film that hit me like a sledgehammer and one I am positive I will revisit time and again.
Don't miss this one.
