Review of Ikiru (1952) by Tomas T — 29 Aug 2008
Another master piece from Kurosawa, sadly this is rather unknown to masses. Ikiru tells a tale of common paper pusher working at his local town city office. Only after he is "diagnosed" for stomach cancer, he starts to really live off his life.
Ikiru is a movie almost everyone can relate to, it usually takes a significant event for a human being to realise that life is too short to waste it by doing nothing. Kurosawa shows hes mastery of directing and scripting again, you rarely see an intresting movie about dying office workers these days.
