Takashi Shimura gives a heartbreaking performance in this powerful and poignant tale of an elderly man who discovers he is dying of cancer, and decides to free himself from the soul-crushing bureaucracy and recapture the life that has passed him by, and leave a lasting legacy behind by building a park for poor urban children.
