Review of Ikiru (1952) by Sagar V — 19 Feb 2013
Kurosawa is probably one of my favorite directors in Japanese cinema, and this film is a testament to that. I've seen this film so many times, and there's a reason it's my favorite Kurosawa project.
It's a wonderfully done representation of our main goals as a society, and is oddly relatable at any age. I especially like the the ending act of this story, as it really shows how misunderstood Watanabe was.
The very last scene is extremely heartfelt and one of the best feelings I've ever had of closure in a film.
