Just barely gets there for me. Kieran Culkin is very good, and so is Jeff Golblum and Amanda Peet, but the movie's a bit of a mess otherwise. The emotional payoff sort of works, but there are a smattering of things that don't, Ryan Phillippe in particular.
Has "Hey look at my odd indy film!" written all over it, and manages to overcome despite itself.
