Review of if.... (1968) by Andrew B — 03 Mar 2008
Obviously more impressionable at the time, but is now a bit dated, not because of the film itself, but the rebellious feeling behind it. Likewise, it's the feeling of rebellion that sticks with you more than the moments in the film.
Sure, the caning and the shooting stick out, but they don't ring with as much impact as people have said they do. As with any film that rides on shock value alone, it's destined not to fully stand the test of time.
