Review of if.... (1968) by Shane S — 23 Jun 2010
"What if Monty Python met Arthur Penn and filmed a Sam Peckinpah script?".
That's pretty much "If..." for you - a barrage of still-relevant satire about war, violent imagery, and fantasmic surrealism that gets even more surreal as every main character goes against the system. This film has not only earned a spot on my Top 100 films list, it has climbed itself in my Top 20.
God, I love New Hollywood and the ways they pushed the envelope.
