Review of Idlewild (2006) by Jason C — 14 Mar 2008
Basically an advertisement for Outkast's Music the story is pretty cliched, predictable and inconsequential to your enjoyment of this movie. Simply, if you don't like the music then don't watch the movie.
Okay laying aside it's obvious problem I have to say I really enjoyed a lot of this movie. The last couple of tracks did however not fit this being because they were from previous Albums. 'Church' in a gangster chase scene and 'She lives in my lap' as Percible (Andre Benjamin) does the makeup on his dead girlfriend were not made for this movie and you can tell.
Another thing about the movie is that it has a hell of a style about it. Earlier on, the world is literally animated around the characters with singing cuckoo clocks and a rooster on a hip flask that moves and jive speaks (part of Big Boi's character's conscience). This ensures the world feels unique.
Watch, but only if you like Outkast's music.
