Review of Idiocracy (2006) by Prabhat R — 17 Nov 2012
It's neither great enough to warrant a "must-see" tag, nor is it bad enough to be deemed "avoid like the plague" flick. It kinda achieves what it was set out to, but only by making us sit through bucket-load of asinine characters, tomfoolery, wafer-thin plot, all of which I know are intentional.
The satirical take on "We are own worst enemy" is noble, but the makers didn't really exploit it to its fullest. The concept had so much potential but the makers decided to only broach certain relevant themes while delving too deeply into matters relating to slapstick humour and showcasing a semblance of a world in nonsensical disarray.
Still, one could easily avoid the flick and not worry about what he/she has missed out on, or one can give it a chance and not worry too much about the hours he/she lost watching this movie.
