Review of Idiocracy (2006) by Glomman — 07 Jun 2022
I've got to say that this movie is hilarious at times, the electrolyte scenes, where an Energy Drink company buys up basically the entire US American food chain is nothing short of brilliant. However, the movie falls short of actually making a valid societal analysis, the approach chosen here, where only "stupid" people get children - lots of them, actually - is a bit too...I don't know, populist? Definetely shouldn't be taken seriously, though. A society where only "stupid" people procreate simply doesn't exist. The America portrayed here, where basically everyone is a gullible fool, yet things like racial violence or prejudice and discrimination against certain people groups - well, except for **** and wimps, they make that very clear - simply doesnt't exist.
A funny movie that should be taken with a grain of salt.
