Review of Idiocracy (2006) by Caius C — 03 Nov 2010
A lot of people always refer to the "future" as inhabited by robots, full of high tech machines and space shuttles, and glitzy skyscrapers. But in Mike Judge's latest movie, the future is a lot different.
Apparently, human intelligence has deteriorated to near mentally challenged status. The people talk with little or no sense at all, chains like Starbucks have become places for people to get handjobs, simple things like buildings, health care and bridges have become completely useless mechanisms towards daily life and the #1 movie in the world is simply called ASS, and its just an ass on the screen. That's simply it. The world has become dumbed down completely.
Mike Judge has created a world that's unique and echoes the diminishing stupidity and increasing birth rate of unintelligent people the world is coming to. While I understand that this creative approach towards the future is interesting, it doesn't paint a perfect picture, instead focusing a lot on idiotic humor rather then explaining or trying to solve the problem of why human intelligence is rabidly decreasing. But its still worth a watch.
