Review of Ichi the Killer (2001) by Jenny B — 17 May 2008
Ichi The killer is said to be an extreme and a gore fest but in my opinion it is a fine work of art! one or two scenes may have you wincing in your seat but I garantee it is a movie you will not easily forget! If you could stomach Visitor Q Ichi will be a walk in the park my friend!
Tadanobu Asano delivers the performance of a great and strangley attractive character that goes by the name of Kakihara .... a sadistic, pain loving, angry and sometimes psychotic man who's dream is 2 meet someone a 100% sadist and he finds this person in in Ichi. The series of events that lead to these two meeting are brutal, sadistic, darkly comic and when you see it there will be no doubt in your mind that it is a Takashi Miike film!
Takashi Miike does not fail to deliver in this movie and creates a most memrable movie that gives you the bizzare ending Miike prides himself on.
