Review of Ichi the Killer (2001) by Manuel A — 02 Nov 2008

With the tones varying from horrifyingly brutal to absolutely ridiculous (occasionally in the same scene) I found myself unable or unwilliing to laugh when mikie clearly intends to make you to.

NOT for anyone with a dislike for extreme violence (especially to women) and not for anyone who doesn't understand Black black black humor and satire. Which is honestly the only way I can make sense of the film's contents. In the end its worth a watch if you're into shock and exploitation flicks or if you just wanna be grossed out and maybe even a little fascinated by all of the ridiculous proceedings.
