Review of Ichi the Killer (2001) by Neal R — 15 Dec 2008

Very well acted. The story exists on several disturbing and bloody levels. Ultimately it's a love story. Some truly amazing scenes that take hard left hand turns to places I never imagined they could.

Now, having said all that: I can't recommend it to anyone sane or even remotely normal. Not a date movie: the violence is extreme and very uncomfortable to watch. If this is your idea of a good time you will get your money's worth (and then some).

I seek out different movies that challenge the viewer and this one fits that bill more than most I've ever seen.
