Review of Ice Cold in Alex (1958) by Ben G — 17 Oct 2011
Once more desert war movies do not disappoint. This one manages the feat to e tough as nail and very humane at the same time. The characters make the film, maybe even more so than the fight against the environment, it's observing the relationship between these men and women that really makes for the interest of the film.
Yes it is a time of war and yes they are in some of the most demanding conditions possible but ultimately what matters is that they are a group of human beings and really the film could be set today in an office, you wouldn't change a thing (well except the tendency of the male stars to get half naked every ten minutes).
