Review of Ice Age: Collision Course (2016) by Kameron P — 23 Jul 2016
Another terrible sequel to the original Ice Age film. I was gracious a friend bought my ticket so it wasn't my money wasted on seeing it in theaters. Going into the movie I thought the only thing that could possibly save it was the original characters, but no, even they disappointed with shallow one-liners and slapstick that failed to impress.
Again, for an unknown reason, Scrat is brought to the forefront causing natural disasters as he does in each of the other films. It was cute in the first movie, but it has grown into a tired and uncreative way to produce new plotlines in a series that should already be extinct.
Even the scientific irregularities became annoying. Yes, I know it is a cartoon, but if you choose to create a disaster the least you can do is make it realistic. Overall the film is a silly, unoriginal, and unimpressive filler that will attract kids 7 and younger but doesn't deliver to an adult audience at all.
However, I will give credit where credit is due: Although I really hated this movie, there were some things they did right that prevented me from giving it less praise than 2 stars. The animation was done really well.
Blue Sky really does do a great job in creating the characters we love in Ice Age; It was the dialogue and storyline that killed the feature.
