Review of Ice Age: Collision Course (2016) by Jigglypuffguy04 — 20 Dec 2021
It's very sad to see the Ice Age franchise fall like this. The first movie was absolutely brilliant, the next two sequels are fantastic, the fourth one was decent (in my opinion), but this one? It is essentially just a massive insult to the franchise.
The only compliment I can give the movie is that the animation looks fantastic and that the voice acting is still good, mainly due to the ones from the previous four movies reprising their roles.
For the most part, it felt like watching a bizarre parody to Ice Age franchise, with it throwing in some jokes that feel out of place for the franchise, flanderizations of many of the beloved characters, with Manny becoming overly protective and Sid being more stupid than normal, as well as some unnecessary pop culture references too, like the one where Scrat was about to put his acorn into a meteor and it plays the 2001: A Space Odyssey theme song while it happens.
