Ice Age: Collision Course.

Initial Reaction: Collision with what?

Main Characters.

Manny, Ellie, Peaches: Three wooly mammoths voiced by Ray Romano, Queen Latifah and Keke Palmer.

Plot Summary.

When Scrat, the squirrel goes into outer space in a spaceship, he accidentally causes a large meteorite to move into a collision course with earth.

Manny and his company have to find a way to stop the meteorite - which means they have to go on a road trip to a place that is marked by an ancient tablet.

SCORING.

Main Characters.

These Mammoths are getting old and tired. Manny's the overprotective dad who wonders if his daughter is with the right guy - I mean elephant. Elle's just your basic wife who ... well doesn't do much. And Peaches is the daughter who tries to be different and fresh, but comes across as really stale and unoriginal. SCORE: 3.

Supporting Cast.

There's the other members of Manny's group who includes Diego, Shira and Sid - but they really don't do much to make them stand out from the group. SCORE: 2.

Plot.

The best parts of the film are with Scrat fooling about with the spaceship. Our hero's trip just felt really boring. And the solution they use to save the day is just ridiculous. SCORE: 3.

Originality.

Take your average road trip film and tack on a disaster film on top - and you'd probably get a better film than this. SCORE: 2.

Violence Factor.

There's the threat of destruction - but let's face it, the earth's not going to get destroyed. It's all sizzle, little steak. SCORE: 3.

Other Moral Issues.

I have no idea what the message they were going with this film. Besides, if Manny and Elle have a daughter, why don't Diego and Shira have kids? SCORE: 1.

Final Score (out of 60): 14 % Score: 23.33%.

This franchise has gone on for far too long. It's time to make it extinct.
