Review of I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With (2006) by Chris W — 27 Feb 2008
Finally, a romantic comedy for all of us fat guys :-) I've always liked Jeff Garlin on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and this is simply a semi-gentler version of that show. Garlin is a down on his luck Second City actor who still lives with his mother and is looking for love, which he thinks he may find with an ice cream shop waitress (Silverman) who may be kind of crazy.
Garlin is obviously a novice director and the film kind of meanders and often feels like extended sketches. But they keep on coming and are often very funny, until the film begins to grow on you and show a charming, endearing side.
Anyone who's ever been fat, frustrated and alone will be rooting for Garlin in this movie and it's kind a funnier, improvised version of Before Sunrise. Worth checking out if you're a Garlin fan or just someone looking for someone to eat cheese with.
