Review of I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With (2006) by Robert S — 26 Sep 2010
A Chicago-based somewhat tragic independent comedy about an overweight man trying to find romance. Jeff Garlin ("Curb your Enthusiasm") stars in the film and wrote the screenplay based on his own one-man show.
Bonnie Hunt is terrific and I really wish she did more movies (maybe she will now that her talk show bombed). Sarah Silverman shocked the heck out of me with her phenomenal performance as a possibly bipolar nut job who works at an ice cream store.
FYI - If you haven't seen the classic TV version of "Marty" with Rod Steiger and Nancy Marchand or seen the movie with Ernest Borgnine, you may want to read a synopsis of the film on-line before you see this movie because "I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With" is chock full of references to it.
Why not just rent "Marty" at the same time you see this and make it a double feature?
