Review of I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With (2006) by Nicholas V — 08 Apr 2008
From Jeff Garlin ('Curb Your Enthusiasm') comes this hilariously funny tale about a man's search for himself. Garlin writes and directs himself as James, a 39-year old man who still lives with his mother.
As the movie opens, his insatiable appetite for food is going too far, his girlfriend dumps him, and his agent drops him as a client. His life is in hell, that is until he walks into a ice cream parlor and meets Beth (Sarah Silverman) who takes a liking to him as does he.
Has he finally found someone to eat cheese with, or has he been fooled once again? Very funny comedy contains terrific performaces from Garlin, Silverman, and Bonnie Hunt (playing a schoolteacher), as well as a great sense of what life can be.
At only 80 minutes, the film is perfectly paced and told. Although not one of the funniest comedies you'll ever see, it is a very good film that is worth your time.
