Review of I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With (2006) by Deborah T — 25 Jun 2008
Sarah Silverman. Bonnie Hunt, and the incomparable Amy Sedaris, who sadly has just a bit part. And the lead guy- he was funny, too. (same guy who wrote it? ok.) All this comic talent- but it's kept on simmer more than it really cooks. And that's ok! This was a low-key somewhat intelligent little piece on the courage one guy finds to move forward. I liked it. It was sweet. Not box-office saccharin sweet, either. However, neither was it on the level of Lars & The Real Girl- which was comparably deeply affecting. Compared to Lars.. this was merely cute.
Nate joked that it might be another in a new? plot formula of "loser guy's life is turned around by meeting wacky hottie who works in a sweet shop" re: Yelling At Strangers. No.. Stranger Than Fiction. ha ha!
