Review of I Walked with a Zombie (1943) by Cindy I — 20 Jan 2008
Loosely adapted from Jane Eyre, I Walked With a Zombie is an engaging thriller. It manages to overcome the common pitfalls of B-movies through clever camera work and the creation of atmosphere, rather than relying on jump-at-you-frights and special effects.
Turn the lights off when you watch this, and youâ??ll find yourself fulling engrossed in the mood Val Lewton intended. Highly recommended for fans of all horror and its history, while casually suggested for anyone interested in something different but classic.
